About Practical Wins
Mission
Practical Wins is a free directory of real, actionable optimizations for everyday life, in four categories: Fitness, Money, Home and Life. The goal is simple: one clear action, the concrete result the source reports, and a link so you can check it yourself. It is modeled on use-case directories for AI tools, but for proven everyday wins.
It was started by Michael PD, a runner and DIYer in Raleigh, NC, who tracks macros, saves for retirement and drives rideshare on the side. That is why many seed tips lean toward running, retirement planning, DIY and gig-driver topics, and a few are specific to North Carolina.
How tips are curated
- Every tip has a source. We open the source link and check that it says what the tip says. Dead links are replaced or the tip is dropped.
- No invented numbers. The “result” line is either an outcome the source states or a plain description of the mechanism (for example, “free search”).
- Authoritative first. Government sites, major medical and university sources, reputable fund companies and consumer organizations come before blogs. Social posts can inspire a tip, but we link the post, summarize in our own words, and still find a solid source.
- Plain tone. No hype, no “secret hacks.”
- Dated. Each tip shows the date it was added. Limits, rates and rebates change, so check the source for current numbers.

Disclaimer: not financial, tax, legal or medical advice
Practical Wins publishes general information for education. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional who knows your situation. Fitness, nutrition and supplement tips may not suit you; talk to your doctor before changing your training, diet or supplements. Money and tax rules change and depend on your circumstances. We are not responsible for decisions made using this site. Sources are third parties and we do not control their content.
How we make money (lightly)
The site is free to use. Revenue, if any, comes from three light sources:
- Sponsors. A clearly labelled sponsor slot on the home page. Sponsors can’t buy a tip, change a tip, or remove one.
- Affiliate links. If we ever link to a product or service we recommend, the link will be labelled as an affiliate link and may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The source link on each tip is the original source, not an affiliate link. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. At launch there are no affiliate links in the tips.
- Newsletter. An occasional email with new tips; sponsor or affiliate content in it is labelled the same way.
