North Carolina's Department of State Treasurer runs NCCash.com, where you can search for unclaimed property held for you. You have to search first, then file the online claim form. Check every name and past address you've used.
The result
Result: Free search of a database the state says is updated daily. The site says claims are processed in the order received and normally take about 90 days.
